The Steel Ministry is the church and main police force for the Lord Ruler. They are invaluable to him, some members even rivaling him in power.

Types of Ministry Officials

There are many types of people in the Ministry, the most prominent listed here.

Steel Inquisitor

A Steel Inquisitor is the ultimate fighting machine. Bestowed Hemalurgically with complete powers of Allomancy and Feruchemy, they are the most powerful creatures in the Final Empire, arguably. Steel Ministers, like the Lord Ruler himself, can live forever if they exploit their powers correctly.

The Lord Ruler, fearing them rebelling, built a couple weaknesses into their creation. For one thing, they can be controlled by very powerful Soothing, which makes them vulnerable to Soothers. Another weakness is that the Lord Ruler specifically witheld giving them certain powers they could be given, limiting their ultimate abilities. The third and final weakness is that they will die if the large spike in their back is removed.

Despite these weaknesses, Inquisitors are very hard to kill. Most Inquisitors are able to pierce Copperclouds, as they are given spikes from an individual who was a Seeker. If they already could burn Bronze, then they can now pierce copperclouds. Inquisitors can regulate their weight, giving them an increased control of Iron and Steel. They can store information inside Copperminds, giving them perfect memories. And they can see in detail using the spikes in their eyes.

Lord Prelan

The Lord Prelan is the head obligator. He is the chief of the church, which the Inquisitors find irking. Tevidian, the last Head Prelan and Vin's father, was executed shortly before the Lord Rulers fall.

Obligator

An Obligator is the staple officer in the Ministry. Obligators are tatooed extensively, the more, the higher their rank. Obligator's are consulted on every issue the nobles need, from business deals to marriage. They collect a tax for these legal issues, helping fund the Lord Rulers armies.

Soothing Station Obligator

Throughout Skaa neighborhoods in the Final Empire, Luthadel especially, soothing stations are set up to regulate Skaa emotions. These stations are filled with Soothers, who spend all day dampening the emotions of skaa to make them feel hopeless. While this seems silly, this has prevented many major rebellions in the Skaa areas.

Canton's

The Steel Ministrys buildings are called Cantons. Each Canton has a specific use, from being home to Inquisitors to managing resources. These Cantons are located throughout the Empire.
